Was Titanic overrated?
I think “Yes” and “No”.
I think the people who love the film to no end (especially as they did when it came out), love what works too severely and overlook its faults.
Likewise, the people who vociferously hate the film, hate it too severely and don’t acknowledge its successes.
It’s a much better film than many “serious” film people remember, but it’s not as perfect as its legend would lead you to believe.
